Hi, I’m Jordin—but the littles call me Jojo.

I’m a professional nanny, the founder of Eat Play Learn, and a mama to a six-year-old girl, a three-year-old boy, an eight-year-old Mini Aussie, and a one-year-old Maltipoo. Our home is full of children, animals, music, creativity, and plenty of activity—and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

How Eat Play Learn Began

I had my daughter just one week before the pandemic shut down the world. While my husband and I were incredibly grateful for the uninterrupted time we had with her, I also worried that she had very few opportunities to interact with anyone outside our immediate family.

I began searching for something between a private nanny and traditional daycare: a small, consistent group where she could safely socialize with children her age while enjoying a more structured and enriching daily routine.

Nanny shares were appealing, but finding the right family, coordinating schedules, and regularly changing host homes felt complicated. When I couldn’t find the kind of childcare setting I had envisioned, I decided to create it myself.

That idea became Eat Play Learn.

My Childcare Journey

I’m an Austin native, although I’ve lived throughout Texas, in New York City, and in several European countries. I have worked with children for more than 13 years and have worn many hats throughout my career.

My experience includes babysitting triplets and children of all ages, working in newborn and 18–24-month classrooms at a child development center, teaching English to grade-school children in Spain, and caring for twins as an au pair in Germany.

In New York City, I worked on the Upper East Side as a private nanny, household manager, and travel nanny. I continued working as a private nanny and household manager after returning to Austin, up until I welcomed my first child in 2020.

As Eat Play Learn approaches its fifth year, I’ve had the privilege of supporting more than 30 Austin-area families through the infant and toddler years. In many of those families, I’ve cared for multiple siblings—from infancy until they eventually aged out of the program.

I specialize in infant and toddler care, am a member of the Newborn Care Specialist Association, and am continuing my education toward certifications as a Newborn Care Specialist and postpartum doula.

Why I Love What I Do

I have a genuine love for children, child development, and their overall well-being. The energy, curiosity, imagination, and honesty children bring into each day make this work incredibly rewarding.

My goal is to create a safe, clean, fun, and welcoming environment where infants and toddlers feel comfortable being themselves. Through play, everyday experiences, and thoughtful activities, we work on language, socialization, independence, creativity, and age-appropriate developmental skills.

Just as importantly, I want parents to have the peace of mind that comes from knowing their child is safe, understood, genuinely loved, and having a wonderful day while they are at work.

Beyond Childcare

Outside of Eat Play Learn, I love learning about different cultures and languages. I can get by in both Spanish and German, and my years living abroad continue to influence the way I see the world.

I enjoy gardening—which you’ll notice as soon as you arrive—along with painting, crochet, writing, film photography, and maintaining the little free library outside our home. I also enjoy running 5Ks and 10Ks, with the long-term goal of completing a marathon.

Music has always been an important part of my life, too. I have a background in singing and playing guitar, although these days it’s mostly a hobby. Rest assured, there is still plenty of singing and dancing at EPL!
