Hi,
I'm Jordin (but the littles call me Jojo), a professional private nanny turned Mama to my 5 year old girl, almost 2 year old baby boy, 7 year-old Mini Aussie and a handful of hens. Yes, chickens. I had my daughter a week before the pandemic shut down the world and while I was so grateful for the one-on-one time that my husband and I got with her... I was concerned that she hadn't had many interactions outside of us. I started looking for a daycare-type setting but on a much smaller scale-- a way for her to safely socialize with a small number of her peers. Nanny shares were enticing but the constant change of setting and need to find a similar family was off-putting, and I still wanted a more structured learning environment. Unable to find this specific type of set up, I decided I would venture out and create it myself.
I'm an Austin native but have lived all over Texas, NYC, and a few countries in Europe. Working in childcare for over 10 years, I've worn many hats in the field. From countless hours babysitting triplets and children of all ages, to working in both the newborn and 18-24 month-old rooms at a child development center. I've taught ESL (English as a second language) to grade school children in Spain, and Au Paired in Germany. In NYC I was a private nanny/house manager/travel nanny on the Upper East Side, and again here in Austin- up until having my first child in 2020.
I have a genuine love for children, child development, and their overall well-being. The energy, curiosity, and honesty that comes from working with children makes this work incredibly rewarding. My goal is to provide a safe, sanitary, FUN & welcoming environment to a group of infant/toddler aged children, where we can learn and develop their language & socialization skills-- all while giving parents the peace of mind they need as they return to work.
Other interests include learning about other cultures and languages. I can get by in Spanish and German. Last year I picked up chicken tending, build a coop myself and absolutely love my hens. I enjoy gardening, although I've only been able to grow tomatoes and cucumbers. I have a background in music (vocals/guitar), although it's only a hobby these days. Rest assured there will be plenty of singing and dancing!
